Post by Monash Association of Debaters on Jun 27, 2005 5:00:15 GMT 10
Greetings All! Before I go to bed, I thought I'd let all of you know, the new MAD website is online! Most of the site has been entirely revamped, and I'd love you guys to have a click around. Any errors you find, email me immediately at jdcam3@student.monash.edu. But bear in mind, I know I'm yet to update the history section, all bar two matter articles, the quizzes and most other things in the members area. Anything else that doesn't seem to work properly, let me know! All feedback welcome (but do bear in mind that given the amount of time this has taken, people who just email me saying they preferred the old site probably won't get the friendliest of replies, OK?). And yes, one day I might try to host a PHP forum on there to replace this cruddy looking and working one, but at the moment I've got my hands full. Maybe after Australs, we'll see. (Bear in mind I don't know PHP, although apparently that won't stop me.) www.monashdebaters.com

Julian the site looks (wait for it......) WIIIIIIIIIIIIGGIDY WAAAAAAAAACK!
Its awesome mate, very impressive.
While it may be true that comparing the MUDS forum (visually) to MAD forum is like comparing Angelina Jolie to that incredibly skanky ho i kissed on New Year's Eve 1997/98, at least our webiste (esp the Members Section) is phenomenally good.
You're a good egg Julian, even if you don't eat eggs you freaky hippy.

T-shirts? WTF? Um, I'm flattered, but possibly that might just help to entrench the whole debater-nerd association which might be best avoided?
One thing I forgot, go read Tim's new matter article on the site, it's an absolute corker, not as funny as some of his others, but can apply to shiteloads of debates. One of those things where you sit there thinking, why have I not heard about this more/before? (Maybe cos I'm don't keep informed enough, watch cricket too much.)

Really great work Julian. I reckon you've exceeded any reasonable expectations. For comparison, check out the UQ Australs website. ( right.uqu.uq.edu.au/~debatingsociety/AUSTRALS/australs.htm) Nowhere near as good, is it? One would think that with all these different skills in the club MAD might want to host some kind of debating tournament itself someday...

Wow. Youre the man Julian. Brilliant effort. Remember everyone, if we want to, we can nominate Julian for Life Membership at the next AGM or better yet, pass a resolution saying that he has to be Webmaster for life

Or better yet..... Given that Sashi wants to have T-Shirts advertising the website, maybe we should make Julian the general theme of our shirts. One side can be advertising the website, and the other can be advertising the MDR (in true Julian style) with his quote from the ADAM public speaking comp. Gold.

Dear Exec,
What is happening with the website? It hasn't been updated since Sydney Mini? As well as all us older members that like reading it, with O-week approaching I imagine there will be a lot of new potential members who will be checking it out?
Jake.

Yep, the website had a bit of a hiatus over the summer holidays, but Amit's got it going again, and it now has new features - online forms to enter for Freshers and Easters, so check out the IV's page and internal comps page. There's a few technical difficulties to be ironed out, which naturally I notice more than anybody else, but the site's in good hands and Amit will only get better and add more to the site.
Don't worry Jake, plenty of pictures of you on the front page!

Well...somehow inspite of those technical errors...we think the website looks wonderful and is humerous as well!
