Since it is quite awhile till DAV hold any training sessions, does anyone know any radio debates , TV debates etc where I could, at least, give my critical faculties a workout in a way somewhat comparable to doing adjudication? The more concrete the debates the better. I would rather avoid topics like "does god exist?" Thank you.

It is worth adding that my previous question is a subset of a broader one: how does someone keep in touch with politics, world affairs etc?
I know that there are links etc to newspapers but is hard for people like me who are no longer part of any such intellectual enginerooms now my university days are past.
I have joined a political party and that will help somewhat. I wouldn't dream of joining any of those "think tanks" like the Australia Institute etc. If John Roskam and Des Moore are instances of what a think tank can accomplish then I would rather read political essays written by Mickey Mouse. Roskam is an utter moron. Last year he was writing about the homogenisation of the Australian sch ool curriculum. He said that Australian students can avoid studying novels altogether - wrong! While there has been a trend towards CD rom tests etc in senior English, it is unavoidable to study some novels here in Victoria. Roskam would not get a place on a D grade debate team. He lives in the looney land where all washed up, has-been numbskulls go to. As for Des Moore...he wants to put commercial interest rates onto your HECS fees. I hope that he didn't get his education for free...own up now Des...it's not humiliating to admit that you benefited from an education system different from the one you support...that's it... good boy....in the kennel with you you right-wing poodlebrain.

I think the DAV run Advanced Adjudicator Training for those who are keen for more training.
